Shadowing and 360 Feedback

People are remarkably perceptive in seeing us for who we are, yet many people are unaware of how their behavior affects those around them. Executive level managers are no exception. Are the leaders in your organization and those being groomed for higher office as effective as they could be?

Without an awareness of how they’re seen by their peers and those who work for them, chances are their behaviors are causing reactionary behaviors that cascade down through the organization. Seeing oneself from another perspective can bring about the clarity needed to make important behavioral changes.

THE CADNUM GROUP provides comprehensive shadowing and custom 360 interviews designed to identify behavioral challenges before we work with clients to develop their goals – and before leadership “blindspots” wreak havoc in an organization.

Developing Influence and Persuasion

Your hierarchy is flat. Who leads and how do they do it?

Leadership styles are becoming subtler.  Fading fast is the power conferred by titles, force and coercion.  Against all this, the soft skills of influence and persuasion are critical for effective leadership.

Leadership is a term in much use these days. Many people talk about leadership when they are actually referring to the ability to influence and persuade. Influence and persuasion constitute personal authority in action, and it’s becoming more important than ever before. Burgeoning technologies link us in new and different ways, often informally in networks outside the organizational hierarchy or any traditional sphere of influence. How does leadership translate in a linked world?

We explore the avenues which lead to influence, persuasion and presence. Based on the Lominger competencies, our step by step, interactive program builds the behaviors which lead to greater personal authority.

Confidence Conundrum

The meetings in your organization always seem to have the same dynamic: a handful of individuals dominate the discussions and decision making, while others rarely make suggestions or voice their views. Meanwhile the organization is missing out on the contributions of those who don’t speak up.

Sound familiar?

Confidence issues lie at the heart of most ineffective behaviors. It’s not just those with too little confidence. Misplaced confidence can be equally as damaging to the organization. These confidence issues are two sides of the same coin.

Left unchallenged they often morph into other destructive compensatory behaviors that undermine both the individual and the group. Many coaching and aspirational books propose confidence cures, but there are no short cuts. Confidence issues did not arise overnight and they won’t be resolved quickly nor easily by an individual on his own. We have found that the best results are achieved through direct 1:1 coaching.

The PEMBRIDGE TECHNIQUETM is our proprietary diagnostic tool designed to identify the root cause of confidence issues, allowing for greater insight and clarity which means better behavioral responses and a more collaborative environment for your organization.

Collaboration and Competition

Collaboration is critical for your organization’s success, but your teams don’t collaborate well. Why?

Corporate life often brings out the worst competitive traits. Yet a fundamental aspect of working successfully with others is the concept of fair competition. Most leadership programs focus on the expedient of the ‘what’ not the ‘how’, but success is a combination of both. How would your organization benefit if everyone understood how to compete fairly? Organizations who promote clean competition are more productive, collaborative and fun to work in.

The ancient Greeks recognized and valued honor as an ideal which benefited not only the individual but also the community. The Oxford English dictionary defines the Greek word philotimia as the ‘love of honor’, a concept which ennobles the act of competition, seen at its best in the ancient Olympic games.

Fair competition brings a host of collateral benefits which elevate both the individual and the group. Enjoying the respect of peers and colleagues never goes out of style.

Is your organization being held back by competitive friction?

Social Intelligence

Navigating the world of nuanced interpersonal relationships is a critical skill for leaders in today’s technology - focused communications which place immediacy above human interaction. However much we consider ourselves to be modern, we’re all still human, and most of us respond favorably when someone makes us feel like we matter. Social intelligence combines Emotional Intelligence with the social awareness of managing relationships in an organizational environment.

Ironically, as technology pushes us away from direct human contact, the need for ‘soft skills’ is growing faster than ever.  Looking into the future, having these soft skills will separate the ‘haves’ from the ‘have nots’ in differentiating people. Possessing emotional and social awareness skills is a sine qua non of most influential people.

Do your leaders have the skills necessary for successful interpersonal relationships?

Cultural and Generational Attunement

If your organization’s like others, your workforce is a diverse mix of cultures and generations. Harnessed correctly, diversity forces an organization outside its traditional boundaries which can promote innovation, producing a more powerful, competitive organization.

How can you benefit from diversity if it feels like the workforce is not all ‘on the same page’?

By promoting the understanding of effective behaviors an organization creates common ground. Although styles vary across cultures and generations, the basic bedrock of effective behaviors is universal, remaining remarkably consistent around the globe and across different age groups.

Success means demonstrating effective behaviors in a style authentic to a person’s indigenous culture or generation.  This approach knits together the strengths and differences of the workforce which translates into an organization at ease with itself and primed for success.

What would your organization look like if you harnessed the power of effective behaviors?
